Reality: If you’re thinking about buying a Kindle (or upgrading an existing e-reader), there’s hardly ever been a better time to do so.
For one thing, Kindle devices are finally getting a feature that users have been asking for eons: the ability to display the cover of an eBook on the lock screen. Previously, you had to jailbreak your Kindle to display something other than automatically chosen wallpapers while it sleeps.
There’s also the little twist that now through September 15 (or while supplies last) Amazon will be giving you 15% off a Kindle Paperwhite and $ 15 credit for an eBook when you enter the code. promotional KINDLE2021 during checkout. This discount brings the price of the 8GB model down to just $ 110.49 and the 32GB version to just $ 135.99. (They normally sell for $ 129.99 and $ 159.99, respectively.)

Available in black, twilight blue, plum pink and light sage green, the Paperwhite is a slim e-reader that caused a stir when it was released in 2018 to offer high-end specs like waterproofing, a glare-free illuminated front display, and Audible Whispersync at an extremely reasonable price. (And it was without Amazon’s current offering.) Mashable Associate Technical Writer Michael Nuñez was able to review it at the time and rated it “hands down the best value you can buy” – you can read Michael’s full review here.
Note that Amazon’s KINDLE2021 agreement states that you will have exactly 30 days to redeem your $ 15 in eBook credits once Amazon has applied them to your customer account. (You’ll get an email when that happens, which will be after the Kindle itself ships.) You might as well get a head start on your summer reading list, you know?
